Venice’s canals are what make it a charming city to visit. The mode of transportation, besides walking, is by boat. There are no highways or vehicular traffic, instead a series of canals serve as the roadways.
The major waterway among them is the Grand Canal which snakes its way through the heart of Venice making it possible to get around to its various districts as well as interconnecting with the smaller neighborhood canals.
Public transport up and down the Grand Canal is available by water buses, called vaporetti, and private water taxis. It’s also fun to explore it by gondola. The Grand Canal is a great way to see the city and the architectural marvels along the water. The least expensive option is by water bus and the most romantic, of course, is by gondola.

Nice shot. I love that bridge that looks back down toward St.Marks and that Cathedral across from it. Looks like you had great weather.
Hey Andrew,
Thanks. LOL that’s exactly where the shot was taken and you’re right we were lucky to have nice sunny days in Venice and throughout Italy on that trip.
Hope alls good with you getting ready for the flight and there are no pangs of buyers remorse!!
Good luck, we’ll tweet you happy thoughts
