About Me

I love to explore new places, meet people and try different food which is why traveling around the US and the world is a big passion of mine. My past jaunts have included Mexico, Morocco, China, Spain, Italy, Canada, Ireland, Greece, Paris, the Caribbean, Bahamas, Bermuda, Barbados, London, Bath, Wales, The Virgin Islands, and a year long tour of the US.

Luckily New York offers so much of the world right here in my own backyard for when I’m not traveling. It’s like no other city and thankfully discovering all of its treasures is a never ending journey.

Scene by Laurie is my way to share experiences and learn from fellow travel enthusiasts. My quest in travel and for my readers is to uncover the unique or lesser known gems that locals know about and visitors want to learn — both in New York and around the world.

If you have any travel questions you’d like answered or places you’d like reviewed let me know. Feel free to leave a comment or email me at scenebylaurie@gmail.com

    Hi Laurie,

I saw your comment on my guest post on Almost Fearless and just wanted to personally thank you for the feedback.

You’ve clearly been busy over the last two months. Keep working hard and you’ll get the results you want.

Maybe even see you in NYC when I arrive in fall.

    Take care,

Yes I do and RSS feed….you can get to both from the icons on the upper right corner of the site…OH NO, does that mean they’re too small to see? Wow thanks for asking, I’ll need to look into that!!!!
    BTW, thanks so much!

Hi Laurie! I just got your link from doing a search for solo travelers. I’m currently in Munich area and I was thinking about Croatia and I’m wondering if you did go there solo. I’m very new to traveling Europe, though not new to life (46). Currently working with clients on home design but soon to be traveling solo. Just launched my first attempt at a blog and have a separate site for my design/organization business. Any advice is helpful. Great articles and posts. You entice people to get out and live! thanks!

    Hi Laurie,
Thanks so much for your mention of Modelo Especial as being your favorite Mexican beer in your recent Mercadito Cantina post! As the brand manager of Modelo here in the U.S., I’d love to send you a free case as a thank you for your loyalty.

Take care, and please reach out if that would be of interest to you!

    Andrea,
I’m still in planning Croatia, looks like late October/early November, but it will be a trip that I take with my father rather than solo. I have done some solo travel, most recently Morocco. Feel free to email me..scenebylaurie @ gmail . com with any specific questions, blogging or travel and I’ll be happy to help if I can.

Also here’s a great site, Solo Traveler (http://solotravelerblog.com/) if you haven’t come across it yet, lots of great info for women solo travelers or this one Journey Woman (http://www.journeywoman.com/).

Let me know if you need any other resources, glad to help and good luck in your travels!!!
    Laurie

hahaha very funny! send a pitch and I’ll consider it :-) btw can you link to me from OT?

  11. So, Laurie. You have a great sight here. I’m curious. When there’s a thick layer of snow in Central Park is it common to see cross country skiing? I’m more of a down hill guy, but I was just wondering if it’s common in the park?

  12. Laurie says:

Hey! Thanks for visiting the site! And yes, six inch base required but you see cross country skiers. How are you?

Nice blog. Interesting. I am planning on heading to DC for the Cherry Blossom Festival. Also, if you haven’t been to Bar Harbor Maine/Acadia National Park, I highly recommend it.

    Hey Laurie,

Very nice blog. I have lived in New York for 5 months 2 years ago. I live in Barcelona now. I fell in love with the great city New York. Since then I have been writing stories about New York. I even made a website for tourists, with the best restaurants in New York so that they know where to eat. It is called Feed Me New York
Anyway, I am really enjoying your blog
